Book Your Theory Test Online reports on how a motorist, claiming to be driving since the age of nine, did so without a driving licence.Â
Salim Sheikh Khalid Saeed, aged 23, told a court in Swansea that he had been driving since the age of nine. However, he had done so without a driving licence having had his application for a full UK licence rejected 56 times because he had failed to provide the correct paperwork.
It’s unclear whether Mr Saeed had ever passed a UK theory test or practical driving exam, but whilst driving without a proper licence Mr Saeed did confess to crashing a vehicle whilst uninsured and without permission. Â
As well as these offences, he also admitted failing to stop for police.
Book Your Theory Test Online understands that Mr Saeed had told his probation officer that he was a good driver, but he had not been able to acquire a UK driving licence because he was unable to provide the necessary paperwork requested from him.
The offences highlighted all occurred on the 18th March 2014 while he was driving on Mumbles Road in Swansea.
Speaking on Saeed’s behalf, Mrs Griffiths informed the court that he had told her he had taken a friend’s car in order to go out for dinner. He stated that he was unaware of police asking him to stop the vehicle because they were travelling in the opposite direction, so he continued on his journey. Eventually, he did stop, after reversing his vehicle into a pillar and damaging the car.Â
In a further statement to the court, Mrs Griffiths said: “Mr Saeed did not grow up in Britain and lacks understanding about the requirements of driving in this country.â€
The case concluded with Mr Saeed receiving a 12 month community order and ordered to do 80 hours unpaid work. He was also asked to attend a ‘vehicle crime’ course. Furthermore, he received eight penalty points and was ordered to pay costs plus a surcharge.
It’s also understood that Saeed will be ordered to sit a UK theory test and practical driving exam in order to become familiar with the requirements of driving in Britain and to obtain a full UK licence.Â
Book Your Theory Test Online says: “The message being sent out to motorists who flout UK driving laws is a strong one. The Government is clamping down on drivers who pose a risk to other motorists because they do not hold a valid theory test certificate or UK driving licence.â€
Book Your Theory Test Online continued: “What’s worse is that motorists, like Saeed, often drive around uninsured. If they were to be involved in an accident it would be another motorist that has to foot the bill, causing their insurance premium to rise.â€
