Book Theory Test Today reviews the reasons behind the surge in the number of people taking the UK theory test.
Despite a high volume of changes affecting the governance of Britain’s roads, the number of people taking the UK theory test has surged over the last 12 months. Prior to being replaced by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) announced that they had conducted 1.5 million theory tests between March 2013 and March 2014.
The DSA was closed on the 31st March 2014, with the responsibility for road safety standards being passed to the newly formed DVSA (a merger of the DSA and VOSA). The DVSA will now conduct driving theory tests and practical exams throughout the UK with the hope of providing a more efficient service for theory test candidates.
The DSA reported that the primary reason for the rise in UK theory tests being taken was immigration. With the influx of foreign nationals arriving in Britain over the past 12 months a ‘new’ proportion of the population are in need of a UK driving licence. In order to reach that milestone the first step is to pass the UK theory test.
However, commentators expect the number of foreign nationals applying to take the UK theory test to drop significantly over the coming 12 months. On the 7th April 2014 an end to foreign language theory tests and practical driving exams was enforced, meaning theory test candidates unable to speak English or Welsh will need to learn a national language in order to take the test.
Another factor behind the surge is Government plans to introduce driving licence restrictions for new motorists. Therefore, those learner drivers looking to avoid the effect of the changes are getting their theory test out the way quickly in order to pass the practical driving exam as soon as possible.
Perhaps the most prominent factor behind the rise in theory test bookings over the past 12 months, according to the now defunct DSA, is the emergence of third party theory test booking services – such as Book Theory Test Today. For the cost of the theory test, plus a minimal administration fee for their services, such third party organisations will book a theory test on behalf of a candidate.
Services, like those provided by Book Theory Test Today, offer some great incentives such as free retests should a candidate be unsuccessful with their initial theory test. They are also able to monitor every theory test centre for cancellations should you need to alter the date of your theory test.
“Removing the hassle of having to book a theory test online or over the phone represents an attractive proposition for time starved individuals. Sometimes, paying that little bit extra for someone else to take care of booking a theory test just seems more worthwhile, but we also encourage candidates to exercise caution when using third party servicesâ€, said a spokesperson for the newly formed DVSA.
Book Theory Test Today offers an intermediary service assisting clients with booking a UK theory test, or practical test, at test centres across the nation.
