If you have booked your DVSA driving test for Thursday 19 November or Friday 20 November, be warned that your test might be cancelled.
If you have made a DVSA driving test booking for either of the dates above, your test faces cancellation as driving test examiners stage a two-day strike in a dispute over working hours. The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCSU), which represents nearly 1,600 DVSA staff, will walk out in protest over new working patterns.
The PCSU says that changes to working patterns will result in its members having to work longer hours.

Members of the Prospect Union, an organisation that test HGVs and buses, also plan to join the mass walk out. They will be striking on Friday, 20 November for three hours, starting at 8am.
Negotiator for Prospect, Helen Stevens, said: “Prospect has been seeking to come to an agreement with the DVSA for months and industrial action is the last resort. The agency, which is supported by the Department for Transport, seems determined to sabotage terms and conditions concerning the pay of its staff.â€
Paul Satoor, the new, recently appointed chief executive of the DVSA, said: “In April 2014, staff signed up to a new, standard employment contract in return for a lump-sum payment and a three-year pay deal. This agreement was reached with the trade unions and was inclusive of transitional payments that came to an end on 1 November 2015.â€
“Recently, operational staff were offered numerous flexible working options that would enable us [the DVSA] to provide our customers with a more flexible and convenient service. It’s a disappointment that the trade unions are now in opposition to certain criteria outlined in the contract and the more flexible working options. The DVSA will do everything it can to keep disruption to our customers to a minimum,†Mr Satoor added.
