miDrive App Reaches 50,000 Learner Drivers

The rise in the number of driving apps appealing to learner drivers has been incessant in recent years. Recently, Book Theory Test Today posted about a new, free theory test app launched by SmartDriving and although the miDrive app has just hit 50,000 users, is its crown as the most downloaded driving app now under threat?

Book Theory Test Today says: “The miDrive app is dubbed the most downloaded driving app in the UK and a recent press release issued by the company reveals that their app has now engaged 50,000 learner drivers across the country.”

This figure certainly shows that learner drivers consider the latest technology to be a great way to help them pass their theory test and DVSA practical driving test. The miDrive app is raved about among the learner driver community having helped many improve their driving skills and connect with quality driving instructors.

App wars – miDrive vs SmartDriving

However, a new app recently launched by SmartDrivng could potentially oust the miDrive app as the most downloaded app because it is alleged that it does more, and because it comes from a renowned driver training service provider, potentially has more credibility.

miDrive app features

Using a combination of blogs, videos and lesson route tracking, the app gives learner drivers a platform for planning what to learn before a driving lesson. The app boasts a database of over 3,000 qualified and vetted driving instructors, enabling learner drivers to connect with local tutors and find the right one for them.

Using the miDrive Pay feature, app users have the ability to pay driving instructors directly through the app.

miDrive CEO, Scott Taylor, comments: “Learning to drive can be a stressful and expensive process. Our research has revealed that it can cost up to £1,500 to learn, but our app can reduce this cost by up to £300. To reach 50,000 users in a year shows how miDrive is helping a community of learner drivers to pass their test in fewer lessons and become safer drivers.”

He added: “And let’s not forget driving instructors – the app is also an ideal platform to market their services. We will continue to innovate to attract both learners and instructors and build our community.”

Joining the more established miDrive app, the company recently launched the ‘Theory Test by miDrive’ app. The marketing jargon for this tool states that the app puts the ‘fun into learning to drive and studying for the theory test.’ The app has achieved this by making the revision experience a game.

Users are given the choice to learn by going solo or challenging themselves against other learner drivers using the app.
