Preparation for your theory test can teach you a lot about driving, but would you know what to do at the scene of a road traffic accident (RTA)? Book Your Theory Test Today reports on a new initiative.

Prevention is the best remedy for road traffic accidents, but unfortunately they do happen and some are more catastrophic than others. Preparation for, and taking, the UK theory test does not involve educating you about what to do at the scene of a RTA.

Let us hope that you never experience the devastation of a RTA, but just in case Book Your Theory Test Today reports on a fantastic new initiative aimed at helping motorists caught up in a RTA.

According to an article published by ‘The Telegraph’, close to 46% of road traffic deaths could be prevented if the right first aid assistance was available shortly after the accident occurred. The Book Your Theory Test Today blogger writes: “You have two choices when you witness a RTA, you can either continue on your journey, or stop to assist.”

Whilst stopping to help may seem like a terrifying prospect, if you’re prepared you can handle the situation.

If you do stop, would you know how to keep yourself out of harm’s way, save the life of a critically injured crash victim, or give your precise location to emergency services? With the right preparation, Book Your Theory Test Today asserts that all this can be achieved by those brave enough to step up to the challenge of a RTA.

Now, there’s an opportunity to learn all the skills you need to provide vital help at the scene of an accident. A new initiative called Driver First Assist (DFA) is a non-profit, community interest company supported by the Association of Chief Police Officers, Association of Ambulance Executives, Chief Fire Officers’ Association and the senior Traffic Commissioner for Great Britain.

The DFA initiative is equipping drivers with the skills needed to respond accordingly in the event of a roadside emergency.

Book Your Theory Test Today understands that in order to become a member of the DFA initiative drivers are required to participate in a day’s course, which will give them the training, and confidence, needed to manage an accident scene and stabilise crash victims in those vital moments prior to the arrival of emergency services.

The DFA initiative is targeting professional drivers, but any motorist is eligible to apply. According to DFA statistics they estimate that close to 46% of road traffic fatalities could be stopped if the correct first aid was administered in the immediate aftermath of an accident.

In a statement from the DFA organisation they said: “The UK requires close to 60,000 trained first-aiders on the roads to make a ‘significant impact’ on reducing fatalities.

Book Your Theory Test Today offers an intermediary service assisting clients with booking a UK theory test, or practical test, at test centres across the nation.
