Failed Your Driving Test? Not Like This You Haven’t – Part Two

In part one, Book Theory Test Today looked at some great excuses given for failing the driving test. Part two gets better! If you’re ever in need of an excuse as to why you failed your driving test, you’re in the right place.

Book Theory Test Today says: “Part one revealed some cracking excuses given for failing the driving test. Our second instalment reveals even more outrageous reasons that learner drivers have given for an unsuccessful attempt at the UK practical exam. Failed your driving test? Look and learn.”

Failed your driving test? Here are five more awesome excuses you could use

6. The instructor put me off – Book Theory Test Today says: “In any other circumstance this could have been a valid reason, for instance the instructor could have started eating noisily. However, on this occasion the instructor was justified for his intervention.”

A learner driver decided that it was the instructor’s fault for putting them off when told to take the next ‘available’ right. Unfortunately, the learner’s failure to follow instructions led them down a one-way street in the wrong direction.

In the event that you have failed your driving test, we recommend that you don’t blame the instructor. Instructors talk and knowledge of your misdemeanour will spread, meaning they might be less favourable with you.

7. Too much energy drink – Here’s how one learner driver described what consumption of too much energy drink did to them…

“The day before taking my final A-level exam, I took the driving test. Big mistake because I was studying like mad and I’d overdone it on the energy drinks, turning up to my test twitching uncontrollably. I registered two majors during the test, as well as multiple minors.”

8. I blame it on the movies – Book Theory Test Today says: “If you’ve failed your driving test, it was probably the fault of Fast and Furious. That Vin Diesel has got a lot to answer for.”

Here’s how one learner motorist described the influence of movies on their failure to pass the driving test… “I failed my test first time, thinking that the best way to overtake vehicles was to zip in and out of traffic like I was in some car chase like the ones you see in the movies.

My biggest influence was the James Bond movies, but on reflection I can see why I should probably have taken more lessons first.”

9. The engine sounded funny – One learner driver gave a great excuse for failing a driving test in a manual car… “I failed the test in a manual car and switched to an automatic.

The reason I gave for doing this was that my parents only drove automatic cars and I was not used to the ‘sound’ or ‘feel’ of gears changing in the manual car.”

10. If all other excuses fail, blame dad – Many of you who have failed your driving test have blamed it on dad saying that he was your instructor, when in reality you just didn’t have an excuse.

If you’ve failed your driving test and given a really bizarre excuse for failing, let us know.
