COVID-19 and Theory Tests – What You Need To Know

The coronavirus is having a definite impact on the world. It is playing havoc with pretty much every facet of normal life, and things may never be the same again. However, it’s important to understand that when it comes to driving and learning to drive, there are ramifications to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Understanding what this all means for you is vital for making sure that you have a safe and sensible experience, so it is important to understand how your driving theory tests will be influenced by COVID-19.

Can I Take My Theory Test?

At the time of writing, it is not possible for you to take your driving theory test under normal circumstances. Due to the unprecedented response to COVID-19, nearly all non-essential services have been suspended to ensure the safety of the general public. The theory test booking would qualify as a non-essential service for most people.

Services are suspended until at least the 20th of April, at which point they will be reviewed by the government in accordance with other quarantine procedures. If it is decided that we are to remain in quarantine for a longer period of time, then the restrictions may well continue.

What Can I Do While I Wait?

While we are waiting for the restrictions to be lifted, it is a good idea to try and practice some of the theory behind driving. Revising all of the different meanings behind the symbols you encounter on the roads, the different rules, it’s all a good idea.

There are, of course, a number of different options available when it comes to practice tests online. There are many official and unofficial resources to work with, so you can continue to prepare for your test.

This may seem boring or dull, but being fully aware of what takes place on our roads is always important, and the more that you approach these types of things, the more confident you’ll be in test conditions. Confidence while driving is important, as being nervous can cause mistakes, and could lead to accidents. We would definitely advise anybody who is waiting to take their theory test to sit in practice everything that will come up in it.

So, in conclusion, there’s a lot to think about when it comes to COVID-19 and the current state of driving tests. You’ll need to be pretty on the ball to make sure that you have the best prep time possible. It isn’t easy by any means to be able to sit and revise for a test or study the rules, but it’ll definitely help in the future. You’ll be able to know what to do a little better, and you’ll stand a much better chance of passing first time. This is definitely the way to go, and something that you should think about. Hopefully, standard services will resume eventually, and people will be able to start booking in their theory tests. Alternatively, we can do it for you.
