Leicester Theory Test Centre Directions

There is an entrance to Phoenix Yard underneath the archway between the Sue Townsend theatre and the MNE accounting.

Car

Parking near the test venue is easy. You can park in the two nearby carparks or use public transport.

Upper Brown Street Car Park

This car park is positioned directly next to Phoenix Yard. The carpark is open all day everyday, but please note it operates a 4 hour maximum stay limit unless you're planning to extend your stay beyond your test, this wont be an issue. There are also a limited amount of spaces available, so make sure you plan a reserve option if this site is full.

Parking charges are as follows: £1 per hour, £3 per three hours, £4 per four hours, £2 per overnight. Payment methods include cash, credit card, debit card, cheque or bank transfer.

Newarke Street Car Park

There are two types of parking facilities: short term and long term. Short term parking is free. Long term parking costs £2 per hour. This site closes at 1.00am every day except Friday and Sunday. Overnight parking isn't allowed.

Phoenix Yard is just around the block from this parking lot, and will take less time than one minute to get there.

Bus

The 158 bus takes people to the test centre. It travels in north-east/west directions. It stops at Haymarket bus station, where it ends. If using this service please exit at Haymarket bus station. The test site is about 1km away from here. If going by foot, take the route described above. You should get off at Marble street and turn right. Continue southbound until you reach Upper Brown Street. Take the number 20 bus to get to the test centre.

20: This service heads east / west, operating between Western Park (in Leicester’s western suburbs) and the city centre. Please exit Welford Place, situated within a two-minute stroll of the venue. Alternative route information is available at the following link.

Train

Leicester railway station is situated near the centre of Leicester. It's close to the university campus, and is easily accessible by foot. You can get there via Granby street, or Belvoir street. Take a right turn when you reach brown st, and head west until you reach upper brown st. Turn left, and you'll be at the venue.

Arriving at Leicester Theory Test Centre

Public transport is great because it saves time and money. You can arrive at the test centre by train or bus. Both are easy to get to.

There are many different types of buses in Leicester. Some people use them to go to work, others to school, some to college, some to university, some to shops, some to hospitals, some to friends' houses, some to pubs, some to restaurants, some to parks, some to museums, some to cinemas, some to theatres, some to libraries, some to gyms, some to schools, some to churches, some to nightclubs, some to concert venues, some to sports stadiums, some to hotels, some to theme parks, some to casinos, some to fairgrounds, some to airports, some to shopping centres, some to beaches, some to mountains, some to forests, some to ski slopes, some to waterparks, some to zoos, some to amusement parks, some to carnivals, some to circuses, some to funfairs, some to festivals, some to music concerts, some to art galleries, some to museums, and some to other places.

The test centre is located near halford street and yeoman street. Find yourself lost? Look for st george's church which is almost a stone throw away from where you're going to take the test. Parking It is very rare for theory test centers to provide on site parking, and the leicester center doesn't buck this trend. There's a large car park situated next door. Before you go too excited, we should tell you that two hours parking at the ncp rutland centre car park (le1 1qt) will cost you £8.20!

Those who want to save money by using public transport should try the Queen Street car park. Parking costs £1.40 per hour. Only 25 spots are available, but if you arrive early you could grab one.

Pass Rates by Year

The pass rate at the Leicester theory test center has been declining steadily since 2011. However, there isn't much to be worried about because the DVSA doesn't care about your driving skills.

Overall trends do not indicate how I am likely to do in my test. My advice would be to study more than the stats!

Train stations are usually close to theory test centres. Leicester railway station is about 0.4 miles away from Leicester theory test centre. Leicester train station is very easy to get to. You can drive there if you want, but walking is also possible.
