The overall figure of 12 million British motorists committing the offence means that one in three of the 38 million drivers on UK roads are putting their own lives and the lives of others at risk.<\/span><\/p>\n

Scientific evidence shows that a motorist who drinks six pints prior to midnight would still have alcohol present in their blood stream until 2pm the following day.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a bid to reduce the amount of alcohol in the bloodstream, many motorists think that stopping at midnight, drinking water, coffee or milk and then sleeping for eight hours speeds up the process of expelling alcohol from the system.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Roger Singer, of Drink Drive Education, says that: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153There is nothing you can do to speed up the rate at which alcohol leaves your system.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/span><\/p>\n
