\n\tThe Aberystwyth practical driving test centre has a new, temporary home. Following up on our blog of September 28,<\/a> we can confirm that the test centre will remain local! Here’s what you need to know and how to book your Aberystwyth driving test.<\/p>\n

\n\tDriving instructors and learner drivers in Aberystwyth will be pleased to know that the DVSA has secured a temporary new home for the town’s practical driving test centre<\/a>. This means that driving tests can still be taken locally, following fears that the town could be left without a facility altogether.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhere is Aberystwyth Driving Test Centre’s Temporary New Home?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\tThe DVSA has reached an agreement with Penparcau Community Forum to use part of a new community centre, in what has been dubbed ‘an innovative temporary arrangement.’<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter the DVSA vacated Yr Hen Ysgol Gymraeg, Aberystwyth<\/a>, on 27 September – because the old school is set to be transformed into a café quarter – no alternative local test centre had been identified.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt was expected that practical driving test candidates would be forced to travel 30 miles to Lampeter, or further still to Cardigan, to sit their exam. However, Penparcau Community Centre’s intervention has prevented this from happening.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe temporary Aberystwyth Driving Test Centre will be fully operational from Monday, 13 November. However, the DVSA did state that it’s hoping to open a permanent test centre facility in Aberystwyth in ‘early 2018.’<\/p>\n

\n\tLocal driving instructors were initially outraged that Aberystwyth would be without a driving test centre. One instructor said: “To think that learner motorists are having to travel up to an hour away by car to take a driving test is unacceptable.”<\/p>\n

\n\tWith the town heading into a busy period for driving tests, instructors and learner drivers alike will be relieved that a stop gap solution has been found.<\/p>\n
